You have a great reservoir of relevant quotations, Gary. It shows not only your own acumen at accumulating this wisdom of humanity, but also the pattern over many generations in many places, and in many other circumstances, of despicable behavior that human beings are capable of inflicting upon their fellow man. In other words, the same conclusions have been drawn by the wise in other contexts, yet nothing changes. What has changed, I suppose, is the visibility of the horror that modern technology has provided. It makes you want to scream or search for a better planet. Empty gestures of protest is all we have, by way of response to it all. Human beings are just plain flawed creatures, and unless you choose to go down the A.I. rabbit hole, I suppose that "fixing them" is all that is left. It certainly has been the mission of the Jews for millenia. The problem is that the template for repair is one designed by the same people, and it turns out those same people have been playing fast and loose with the truth in order to serve some dark agenda. So who will objectively sort out the wars and genocides, and man's general inhumanity to man, who is not already a perpetrator of the very thing that they are ostensibly set out to "fix"? Jesus gave it a mighty try, but his audience just wanted to "shoot the messenger" so we can see how that worked out. If money and the things of this material world continue to be the gods of civilization (or some controlling segment of civilization) there is no hope in this realm. I do admire the guts of those who are willing to beat their heads against a wall, but self flagellation never solved this elemental problem. As the great king of Siam is reported to have said, " it is a puzzlement."
As far as countries go, the only one I have any respect for at all in the world is Yemen.
Yeah. Our taxes (extortion payments) go to support the butchery of humans around the world.
