The majority of Americans are apathetic. What can they really do about the state? It's very hard to opt out of the police state. The government is everywhere. By that, I mean assholes who work for the state. Assholes who are always in our faces, demanding this and that.

My wife and I rarely leave our property. In many ways, we've jailed ourselves.

I love your loving ode to the majesty of human life and interaction, Gary. And I am pleased that you have recognized the threat to humanity that A.I. is. But I am still disappointed that you can't seem to take that extra step and acknowledge that "A.I" is not a thing of this world. You persist in ascribing to our moronic and evil "human" leaders, a capability that they simply do not have. Left or right, demonstrating in the streets, or even just not participating in society by dropping out --- these are all the prescriptions and remedies of a different time. We (the human race) have been invaded by alien forces and an alien technology. When we look for solutions to that particular problem we are operating on an entirely different plane. You could call it the religious plane, I suppose, but frankly most if not all of the formal religions of the world are designed to govern human behavior under the watchful eye of a deity that resides somewhere "off the planet" and who leaves human affairs largely in the hands of us humans. This other force which is now beginning to hold sway on the Earth, and which is not the least bit interested in the well-being of the current residents of the planet, is simply not reachable through the customary means of behavior that we humans have developed (however patchy and imperfect) over the last few thousand years. How can I be so confident that this is the case? I have observed, as an intelligent and thoughtful human being, who has a certain amount of education and a lot of experience in dealing with human beings, that our two last leaders, Biden and Trump, have been successfully "passed off" by our new alien masters, as the original versions of themselves, when it is obvious from their physical appearances , and thoroughly out of context behavior, in service to non-human forces. I have also observed the very obvious assaults on the human race (as a whole) via weather warfare, terrorist destruction, and anti-nationalistic and anti-religious propaganda. As you note, the A.I. civilization is now making itself supreme, utilizing the tools of once-functioning democracies, to institute their new "regime." I would recommend to you a look at a book by Federico Faggin, a quantum physicist, who has seen the "light", and who recognizes that A.I. is unable to tap into the human soul. The book is called "Irreduceable". It is consistent, I believe with the Eastern religions which see human consciousness as residing not within the body, but rather in the ether. There is and always has been a future for our kind! I'm not sure that recognizing that fact will bring much comfort in dealing with our current travails, but as we all know, the experience of life on the material plane has never been easy, even in the days before the "demon" arrived.
