Sadly, Gary, I completely agree with your analysis. Did human beings ever really have a chance of avoiding this? I am not sure. I tend to go toward biblical explanations, given the "side track" to all of this malevolence. This is the devil himself and his agents at work. We are being toyed with by these monsters (call them aliens if you like) and have been for quite some time. The devil, as portrayed in world literature, has many of the characteristics that we see on display in recent times. I do think that his legion of helpers, starting with the Serpent that our ancestors unfortunately listened to, coopted certain people as his chosen ones, back in biblical times, to carry out his deceptive mind games upon humanity and then in the last 100 years or so, once again deputized them to begin the utterly malevolent operations that will likely bring us to nuclear war in short order. I suspect that the data centers are only for use in some later mechanism for extraction of resources on the planet perhaps, after the A.I. leadership completes their retreat underground after the poisoning of the current human population via fallout and whatever else is contained in nuclear winter. Will they bother putting us all under the control grid? What is the advantage to them of doing this? That is the only minor quibble I might have with what you are saying. I think they are just going to kill us off. They already know how to make robots. They don't need a bunch of indigestible humans to feed off of. Not a pretty picture in any event. If we can't "rage at the machine" , even out of futility, what is the worth of our humanity, with its higher values? The A.I.'s simply can't "read" us inveterate humans. The gibberish that they try to throw at us to correct our brilliant prose, for example, shows what low -lifes they are.

Oh, the world of man may well be ending, one way or another. The analog world exists, but not in the minds of men. Very odd.

Besides, the odds of nuclear war today are very high.

Does it matter if mankind goes extinct with a bang or a whimper?
